Let's discuss the green and digital transition and the role of green and digital skills in education and labor market policies in EU neighboring countries.  During this LIVE interview we will debunk common myths related to green skills, such as whether they are only for people who work in the environmental sector or accessible only to economically wealthy countries. We will also discuss the relevance of green skills to existing jobs, the expense of learning and implementing green skills, and whether they are only relevant for high-skilled workers or certain industries. The guest speakers are:  Markus Janser from Institute for Labor Market and Vocational Research (IAB), Germany Romain Boitard from European Training Foundation. The ‘Europe’s turning point’ roundtable was part of a three-day series of sessions, workshops, and lectures hosted at Leiden University. The roundtable was open to all students, staff, and other interested people. The Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February transformed European security and will have long term effects on relations between the European Union and its neighbouring states. In this roundtable we discuss how to understand the policies and priorities of Russia, as well as the distinct dilemmas and challenges facing Turkey in the context of the war. We further compare the perspectives of these states, as well as that of Ukraine, on the EU’s role and policies during the war. Finally, and in line with the inquiry into the EU’s role as seen from its neighbors, we consider the implications for the EU’s neighbourhood policy. Speakers: Helene Sjursen (chair) is a Research Professor at ARENA Centre for European Studies, at the University of Oslo. Her research interests include, theories of international relations, the EU’s global role, Eu enlargement and questions of democracy and foreign policy. Meltem MĂŒftĂŒler-Baç is Dean of Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and Professor of International Relations and Jean Monnet chair at Sabanci University, Istanbul. European University ...
Each International Women's Day, the European University Association seizes the opportunity to raise awareness about gender disparities in universities. In 2023, EUA invited leaders from its member universities to address this topic, sharing their thoughts and experiences on how a reformed research assessment system can embrace enhance gender equality practices at institutional level. Currently, research assessment systems do not sufficiently consider gender equality as a dimension in the assessment of researchers, research projects and research activities. However, the publication of the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment, co-drafted by EUA, and the creation of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) now offer unparalleled opportunities for universities to be agents of positive change in this area, devising actions and strategies that foster, promote and recognise gender equality, diversity and inclusiveness practices at institutional level. Speakers: ‱ Senena CorbalĂĄn GarcĂa, Vice-Rector for Research, University of Murcia ‱ Toril A. Nagelhus Hernes, Vice-Rector for Innovation, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) ‱ Astrid Söderbergh Widding, Rector, Stockholm University Reviewing research assessment, as part of a reform of academic careers, is a priority for EUA. Can lace be the stuff the future is made of? The 2021 exhibition ‘P.LACE.S - Looking through Antwerp Lace’ expressed MoMu’s take on the topic, suggesting how heritage & craft can indeed be both repositories and sources for the development of new artistic, productive and creative languages. In this video, curator Romy Cockx describes the show and its enchanting objects, focussing on the special project of a 3D-printed handkerchief inspired by the one depicted by Peter Paul Rubens in 1615. Always at the forefront of fashion exhibition-making, MoMu’s project becomes an incubator of new ideas and experiments, fostering the development of cutting edge collaborations reimagining craft for the future.
