The transformation of corporate governance in the UK did not stop with the publication two years ago of the UK Corporate Governance Code – if anything, it was only then starting.
This year’s conference will consider the new governance challenges businesses in the UK are facing on several fronts. In the morning, we hear from the Financial Reporting Council on its work since publication of the Code, and on the work that still lies ahead. We examine developments in a number of key areas, from auditing to reporting, executive pay to pan-European regulation, and look at what lessons might be learned from countries beyond the EU and from outside the corporate sector.
In the afternoon, delegates will be offered a choice of two workshops; the first, looking at how companies can design board materials to facilitate better decision-making; the second, looking at how boards can better identify risk and craft effective internal controls. Delegates will then return to the main hall for two sessions and our closing keynote, each examining a different aspect of the board’s role in promoting good governance.
