The following Mineral Sciences in the Carpathians Conference (MSCC) and the Central-European Mineralogical Conference (CEMC) will be organised together, because both conferences are planned to be commenced in 2012. Our aim is to offer a stable and suitable meeting point for mineral science specialists (mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry and their applications) of this region. We also welcome colleagues from outside the Central-European region, thus promoting a wider scientific collaboration. This will be the first important meeting in this region after the 20th General Meeting of the International Mineralogical Association (IMA), organised in 2010 in Budapest by the consortium of Austrian, Croatian, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian and Slovak mineral scientists. We firmly believe that this joint MSCC-CEMC conference, just like the previous ones, will initiate new research projects and educational cooperations in the close future. The programme will be complemented with two pre-conference field trips in Slovakia and Hungary.
